Section 01 · The short version

If you remember nothing else

FoodFat helps you read packaged-food labels and gives a transparent, on-device health score. It is an information tool, not medical, dietary or nutritional advice, and not a substitute for a doctor or dietitian. You can use most of the app for free; some features are paid. Use it sensibly, don't abuse it, and the score is our best honest estimate — always read the actual pack.

• Informational only. Not medical advice. Not a diagnosis.
• You must be old enough to form a binding contract (13+, 16+ in the EU).
• Paid features are billed via Razorpay; you can cancel a subscription anytime.
• The service is provided "as is", without warranties.

Section 02 · Who we are

The publisher

FoodFat ("the app", "the service", "we", "us") is published by Arju Singh. It is distributed under the bundle identifier com.arju.foodfat on iOS and com.foodfat.foodfat on Android. These Terms govern your use of the app and this website. Questions: connect@arjusingh.com.

Section 03 · Acceptance

Agreeing to these terms

By downloading, installing, or using FoodFat, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you use FoodFat on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind that organisation. We may update these Terms (see Section 12); continued use after a change means you accept the new version.

Section 04 · Eligibility

Who may use it

You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU/EEA) to use FoodFat. The app is not directed at children under those ages. By using it you confirm you meet the age requirement and that you can form a legally binding contract in your jurisdiction.

Section 05 · The service

What FoodFat does — and what it doesn't

• Scoring is an estimate. The 0–100% score, star rating, NOVA level, additive-risk bands and ingredient flags are produced by a deterministic, on-device engine from the data available for a product. Source data can be incomplete or out of date. Always read the physical label.
• Barcode lookups rely on Open Food Facts, a community database we don't control. A product may be missing, wrong, or differ by region or batch.
• AI label reading is optional. When you tap "Photograph the label," the photo is sent to a vision model to extract ingredients and the nutrition table. Extraction can contain errors; treat results as a draft, not ground truth.
• No guarantee of availability. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time.

Section 06 · Accounts

Anonymous by default, an account if you want one

• You can use FoodFat without an account — anonymous sign-in is the default.
• If you upgrade to an email/password or social (Google / Apple) account, you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account.
• Notify us promptly at connect@arjusingh.com if you suspect unauthorised use.
• Admin access to the web console is restricted to accounts listed in our admins/ collection.

Section 07 · Acceptable use

Things you agree not to do

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source or secrets from the app or its backend, except where the law expressly permits.
• Probe, scrape, overload, or circumvent rate limits, authentication, or any security control of our APIs (Cloud Functions, Firestore, the vision proxy).
• Use the app to break any law, infringe anyone's rights, or upload unlawful, harmful, or abusive content.
• Resell, sublicense, or use the service to build a competing dataset or product without our written permission.
• Misuse the AI label reader to process content unrelated to a food label, or to abuse it as a general-purpose model gateway.

We may rate-limit, suspend, or terminate access that breaches this section.

Section 08 · Payments

Paid features, billing and cancellation

We may change prices going forward; changes never apply retroactively to a purchase you've already made.

Section 09 · Intellectual property

Who owns what

• Ours. The app, the scoring engine, the magazine website, its text, design, and the FoodFat name are owned by us and protected by IP law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose.
• Yours. Your scans and any content you create stay yours. By using cloud sync you grant us the limited licence needed to store and display that content back to you (and to admins in aggregate, per the Privacy Policy).
• Third-party data. Open Food Facts data is licensed under the ODbL; nutrition thresholds, NOVA, EFSA / IARC notes and FSSAI rules belong to their respective sources and are used for reference.

Section 11 · Termination

Ending the relationship

You can stop using FoodFat at any time and delete your account (Settings → Sign out; to delete entirely, email us — see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or use the service in a way that risks harm to others or to the service. On termination, the licence in Section 09 ends; sections that by their nature should survive (payments owed, IP, disclaimers, liability, governing law) continue to apply.

Section 12 · Changes

When these terms change

If we make a material change to these Terms, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, surface an in-app notice. The current version always lives at this URL. Continued use after a change means you accept it.

Section 13 · Governing law

Which law applies

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any non-waivable rights you have as a consumer in your country of residence, the courts at the publisher's place of business shall have jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms.
